Upgrading Your AEG

Everybody knows that an upgraded electric airsoft gun performs better than a stock electric airsoft gun. Upgrading your AEG can be a difficult process if you are not experienced.

First of all, only metal gear box AEG's should be upgraded. Second of all, the following links are to online airsoft sites that will upgrade your AEG for you. I recommend using one of these links if you are not mechanically inclined to be taking apart and reassembling your AEG...

If you ARE mechanically inclined to upgrade your AEG, then good for you! Be sure to use upgrade parts that fit your AEG. If your AEG is a version 2 metal gearbox, then you need a version 2 metal spring guide, etc.

If you are upgrading your AEG to 330 FPS then you will need a new spring guide, new bushings, a good job of shimming (for China made), and a new spring (duh). The following are good choices...

Re-Shimming for China made
Bushings - ECHO 1 steel bushings
Spring Guide - Area 1000 metal spring guide
Spring - Guarder SP100

If you are upgrading your AEG to 350 FPS then you will need basically the same parts you need for 330 FPS, just a better spring and a good battery.

Re-Shimming for China made
Battery - a 8.4v that is above 1300 MaH that fits your gun
Bushings - ECHO 1 steel bushings
Spring Guide - Area 1000 metal spring guide
Spring - Systema M100

If you are upgrading your AEG to 380 FPS, then you will need a better quality spring guide, bushings, and spring than a 350 FPS upgrade. A 9.6v battery would do wonders, as well. If you want really high RoF, you could get a new motor, but it's not needed.

Battery - A 9.6v that is or is above 1100 MaH that fits your gun
Bushings - Guarder steel bushings
Spring Guide - Systema metal spring guide
Spring - Guarder SP110

If you are upgrading your AEG to 410 FPS, then you will need a new piston, new piston head, a reinforced gear set, a better spring, and the same spring guide and bushings as a 380 FPS upgrade. A 9.6v battery would help a lot, as well. If you want to, you could also get a new motor, but that is not needed unless you want high RoF.

Battery - A 9.6v that is or is above 1200 MaH that fits your gun
Piston - Systema poylcarbonate piston
Piston Head - Systema duracon piston head with bearings
Gears - Prometheus standard ratio reinforced steel gear set
Bushings - Guarder steel bushings
Spring Guide - Systema metal spring guide
Spring - Prometheus non-liner M120


I do not recommend upgrading to anything higher than 410 FPS.


Hop-Up Bucking and Tighbore Barrels are completely optional, but they greatly increase accuracy and range, they also increase FPS a little. They are HIGHLY recommended for ANY metal gear box AEG.

Hop-Up Bucking - Prometheus soft type hop-up bucking
Tightbore Barrel - Prometheus 6.03mm Precision Inner Barrel (use with 5.98mm bb's - Exel, Airsoft Elite, Matrix, Echo 1, Madbull)
